Cities connected by music: Design of A Music Space
About Project

Music is one of the universal languages of the world. Good music is appreciated by everyone. Its impact is beyond the taste of good music. Especially in the twentieth-century several music bands and solo musicians were the leaders of social movements. They aspired to optimism about the future. Their music echoed several civic values, including equality, human rights, justice, freedom, etc.

Many cities across the world are known for their famous musicians, music groups, or street musicians. In the USA; New Orleans is historically known for being the cradle of jazz music, New York for popular music, Chicago was known as the home of blues or Memphis was for Chuck Berry and his Rock ’n’ Roll…. In Europe, it is almost the same. Paris and Vienna are the two continental capitals of classical music, whereas Berlin boasts hosting David Bowie and Iggy Pop in the 1970s. London is the home of Pink Floyd, Queen, John Elton, or Eric Clapton.  Besides, there are thousands of less-known musicians and bands playing across the continent. The citizens are still proud of their musicians and every year thousands of visitors visit these cities to spectate live performances. Therefore, there are several regular public events to honor these musicians in different cities.

In this project, students designed a public space in a city center for performance and exhibition of live music and music history.  This space is a meeting and performance platform where people are free to compose, and play their music, and share with others.
